The objectives of this research were: 1.) to study the factors affecting the conservation of the Thai Children’s folk play wisdom in the central and eastern regions of Thailand; 2. to find ways to sustain these folk plays wisdom; and 3. to study the values of these folk plays toward the children’s cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development. This research was an action research. Samples of the study were 8 administrators, 40 teachers, 400 kindergarten 3 students, and grades 1-3 students in the schools in the Central and East and 40 community leaders and local sages. The instruments of the study consisted of an interview form collecting opinions toward the conservation factors, a survey form, manuscripts documenting the Thai children’s folk play wisdom, a children’s folk play evaluation form, and a manual containing 29 types of children’s folk play in the Central and the East. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequency and mean. The findings indicated that 1.) The factors affecting the conservation of the Thai children’s folk play wisdom in the Central and the East consisted of policies in curriculum and instruction; lack of instructional resources in terms of folk wisdom gurus and community leaders; progress in communication technology; social and economic changes; and changes in the students’ families. 2.) Ways to sustain these folk play wisdom should begin by implementing the schools’ policies to include a local curriculum promoting folk play activities, conducting public relations activities to promote and support these folk plays by the community, upgrading learning resources through training of teachers, adjusting or adapting the play equipments and playing methods to accommodate the present social context. 3.) The Thai children’s folk play wisdom of the Central and the East contributed to all four aspects of child development, namely, physical, emotional, social, and intellectual.

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาปัจจัยที่เป็นอุปสรรคต่อการอนุรักษ์ภูมิปัญญาการละเล่นพื้นบ้านของเด็กไทยภาคกลางและภาคตะวันออก เพื่อศึกษาแนวทางการอนุรักษ์การละเล่นพื้นบ้านของเด็กไทยให้คงอยู่ และเพื่อศึกษาการพัฒนาด้านสติปัญญา อารมณ์-จิตใจ สังคมและร่างกายของเด็กด้วยการละเล่นพื้นบ้านของเด็กไทย การวิจัยนี้เป็นวิจัยเชิงปฏิบัติการ กลุ่มตัวอย่างได้แก่ ผู้บริหารโรงเรียน 8 คน อาจารย์ผู้สอน 40 คน และนักเรียนระดับชั้นอนุบาลปีที่ 3 ชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1-3 จำนวน 400 คน ของโรงเรียนในภาคกลางและภาคตะวันออก ผู้นำท้องถิ่นและปราชญ์ผู้รู้ 40 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บข้อมูลได้แก่ แบบสัมภาษณ์ แบบสำรวจ แบบบันทึก แบบประเมิน การละเล่นพื้นบ้านของเด็กไทย และเอกสารการละเล่นพื้นบ้านของเด็กไทยภาคกลางและภาคตะวันออก 29 ชนิด วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยสถิติพรรณนา ความถี่และค่าเฉลี่ย ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) ปัจจัยที่เป็นอุปสรรคต่อการอนุรักษ์ภูมิปัญญาการละเล่นพื้นบ้านของเด็กไทยภาคกลางและภาคตะวันออก ได้แก่ นโยบายการศึกษาด้านหลักสูตรการเรียนการสอน แหล่งความรู้ด้านผู้รู้และผู้นำชุมชน ความก้าวหน้าด้านเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศและการสื่อสาร การเปลี่ยนแปลงด้านสังคม ครอบครัวและเศรษฐกิจ 2) แนวทางการอนุรักษ์ภูมิปัญญาการละเล่นพื้นบ้านของเด็กไทยให้คงอยู่ต้องเริ่มจากนโยบายของโรงเรียน โดยจัดหลักสูตรท้องถิ่นที่ส่งเสริมกิจกรรมการละเล่นพื้นบ้าน ชุมชน ร่วมส่งเสริมสนับสนุนการจัดกิจกรรมและการประชาสัมพันธ์ จัดหาแหล่งเรียนรู้ จัดอบรมผู้สอน การปรับเปลี่ยนอุปกรณ์และวิธีการเล่นให้สอดคล้องกับบริบทสังคมในปัจจุบัน และ 3) การละเล่นพื้นบ้านของเด็กภาคกลางและภาคตะวันออก มีผลดีต่อการพัฒนาการของเด็กทั้ง 4 ด้านคือ ร่างกาย อารมณ์-จิตใจ สังคม และสติปัญญา
