This study was undertaken to determine the use of newspapers service by freshman students in
Ramkhamhaeng University Library at Bangna Campus, classified by personal background, conditions of use
of the newspapers service and need for the service, and also to compare the use of newspapers service and
the need for such service of freshman students, classified by gender and faculty of enrollment.
For conducting this research, the researcher distributed questionnaires, developed by the researcher,
to 400 RU freshmen who had used the newspaper service at the Bangna Campus library during the second
semester of the 2005 academic year. All of the questionnaires were returned completely. The data were
analyzed through SPSS for Windows software, by using percentages, mean scores, standard deviation, Ttest,
one-way ANOVA and TUKEY HSD.
The data indicated that most of the students using the newspapers service were male, enrolled in the
Faculty of Law, who studied in the library daily from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. They read an average of three
newspapers, normally students spent over half an hour per day. The reasons for using the newspaper
service were first, to keep current with the news of the day and, second, to obtain information that would be
useful for their academic studies. They were most interested in news about social, and felt that gaining
knowledge was the prime benefit they derived from using the service.
Use of the daily newspaper service by first-year students was at a moderate level; use of those
newspapers published every third day was at a low level. Use of weekly newspapers, though, was found to
be at a moderate level.
The data revealed that the newspapers read by students at a high level were Thai Rath and Daily
News. Most preferred Thai newspapers. The students also expressed a desire for library personnel to
provide service politely and willingly, and for atmosphere in the library.
Finally, hypothesis testing compared newspaper service use by students classified by gender and
faculty of enrollment. Based on gender found there was a statistically significant difference at a level of 0.05
(Krungthep Turakij, Naewna, Banmuang, Phuchatkan Rai Wan, Matichon, Siamsport, Siamrath and
Prachachart Turakij). Based on faculty of enrollment found there was a statistically significant difference at a
level of 0.05 (Daily News and Bangkok Post)
Comparison of the need for newspapers service by freshman students at RU Library at Bangna
Campus was classified by gender and faculty of enrollment. The study found that there was a statistically
significant difference at a level of 0.05 in the field of personnel while there was no such difference at a level
of 0.05 in other fields.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการใช้บริการหนังสือพิมพ์ของนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยรามคำแหง ชั้นปีที่ 1
ในห้องสมุดวิทยาเขตบางนา โดยผู้วิจัยได้จำแนกการใช้บริการหนังสือพิมพ์ตามสถานภาพส่วนบุคคล สภาพการใช้
หนังสือพิมพ์ ความต้องการในการให้บริการหนังสือพิมพ์ และเพื่อเปรียบเทียบการใช้บริการหนังสือพิมพ์และความ
ต้องการในการให้บริการหนังสือพิมพ์ของนักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 1 จำแนกตามเพศและคณะ
ในการดำเนินการวิจัย ผู้วิจัยได้แจกแบบสอบถามให้กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือนักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 1
มหาวิทยาลัยรามคำแหง ที่เข้าใช้บริการหนังสือพิมพ์ในห้องสมุดวิทยาเขตบางนา ในภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2548
จำนวน 400 ชุด และได้รับแบบสอบถามกลับคืนมาทั้งหมด โดยนำมาประมวลผลด้วยโปรแกรมสำเร็จรูป SPSS เพื่อหา
ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงแบนมาตรฐาน t-test, one way-Anova และ Tukey HSD
ผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ว่า การใช้บริการหนังสือพิมพ์ตามสถานภาพส่วนบุคคล พบว่า นักศึกษาที่เข้าใช้บริการ
หนังสือพิมพ์ส่วนใหญ่เป็นนักศึกษาเพศชาย คณะนิติศาสตร์ ใช้บริการหนังสือพิมพ์ในห้องสมุดช่วงเวลา 11.30-
13.30 น. โดยใช้บริการหนังสือพิมพ์เฉลี่ยวันละ 3 ฉบับ ใช้เวลาประมาณ 30 นาทีต่อคน มีวัตถุประสงค์ในการอ่าน
หนังสือพิมพ์เพื่อให้ทันต่อเหตุการณ์ รองลงมาคือ อ่านเพื่อหาความรู้ประกอบการศึกษา และเห็นว่าประโยชน์จากการ
อ่านหนังสือพิมพ์ คือ อ่านให้มีความรู้รอบตัวกว้างขวาง โดยเนื้อหาที่นักศึกษาสนใจอ่านมากที่สุด ได้แก่ ด้านสังคม
สภาพการใช้บริการหนังสือพิมพ์ พบว่า การใช้บริการหนังสือพิมพ์รายวันและรายสัปดาห์ของนักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 1
อยู่ในระดับปานกลางส่วนหนังสือพิมพ์รายสามวันอยู่ในระดับน้อย โดยหนังสือพิมพ์รายวันที่นักศึกษาใช้บริการอยู่ใน
ระดับมาก ได้แก่ ไทยรัฐ และ เดลินิวส์
ความต้องการในการให้บริการหนังสือพิมพ์ นักศึกษาส่วนใหญ่ต้องการ การบริการจำนวนหนังสือพิมพ์
ภาษาไทย จำนวนรายชื่อหนังสือพิมพ์ที่ให้บริการ เพื่อติดตามข่าวสารทันสมัยฉบับปัจจุบัน ต้องการให้บุคลากร
ห้องสมุดบริการด้วยความเต็มใจและช่วยเหลือผู้ใช้บริการด้วยความสุภาพ และอัธยาศัยดี มีสถานที่สะอาด และ
สิ่งแวดล้อมที่เหมาะสม
การทดสอบสมมติฐานเพื่อเปรียบเทียบการใช้บริการหนังสือพิมพ์ของนักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 1 ในห้องสุมดวิทยาเขต
บางนาจำแนกตามเพศและคณะ ในด้านของเพศ พบว่า แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.05 ใน
หนังสือพิมพ์กรุงเทพธุรกิจ แนวหน้า บ้านเมือง ผู้จัดการรายวัน มติชน สยามกีฬา สยามรัฐและประชาชาติธุรกิจ ส่วน
ในด้านของคณะ พบว่าแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.05 ในหนังสือเดลินิวส์ และ Bangkok Post
